Police Impersonators Targeting Garda Hoteliers with Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal guards.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
