Montichiari Airport: Private Flights Under the Spotlight of Financial Authorities, Over €110,000 in Taxes Evaded An investigation conducted by the Guardia di Finanza in Brescia has uncovered tax evasion exceeding €111,000 related to aerotaxi flights at the “Gabriele D’Annunzio” airport in Montichiari. Authorities examined the operations of 19 foreign airlines, which between 2019 and 2020 conducted approximately 650 flights, transporting 1,130 passengers without paying the required tax, which is linked to the number of passengers and the distance traveled.
The unpaid tax is intended to fund environmental protection initiatives and applies to all routes involving Italian territory. The irregular flights spanned several countries, including the USA, the UK, France, Germany, Iran, and Turkey, covering both European and intercontinental routes. This operation highlights the importance of monitoring airport activities to ensure the proper enforcement of tax regulations.
