On Sunday, October 4, 2026, Profumi di Mosto returns to Lake Garda, offering wine enthusiasts and travellers an immersive celebration of the grape harvest across the rolling hills of the Valtènesi and lower Benaco region. Organised by the Consorzio Valtènesi, the annual wine tourism event opens the doors of 24 historic wineries scattered between Desenzano del Garda, Padenghe, Moniga, Manerba, Polpenazze, Puegnago, and San Felice del Benaco.
Three Guided Tasting Routes Across the Morainic Amphitheatre
The 2026 edition organises participating estates into three distinct geographic itineraries, each comprising eight cellars. This structure allows guests to tour at their own pace, exploring family-run vineyards and centuries-old barrel cellars while interacting directly with local winemakers. Ticket holders receive a commemorative tasting glass and pouch, with dedicated shuttle bus services connecting key train stations and coastal hubs to ensure relaxed, sustainable mobility across the vineyards.
At each stop, visitors sample fermenting grape must—the aromatic, sweet precursor to wine—alongside curated tastings of finished Riviera del Garda Classico and Valtènesi DOC labels, paired with artisan Garda DOP extra virgin olive oil, cured meats, and regional cheeses.
Groppello and RosaValtènesi: Centuries of Winemaking Heritage
The undisputed protagonist of Profumi di Mosto is Groppello, an ancient indigenous red grape variety documented along western Lake Garda since the Renaissance. Groppello thrives in the glacial gravel soils and mild sub-Mediterranean microclimate of the basin, yielding wines marked by delicate red fruit aromas, distinct peppery spice, and balanced minerality. It forms the backbone of both traditional medium-bodied red wines and celebrated dry rosés.
Tasting passes must be reserved in advance through the official Consorzio Valtènesi portal, as attendance is strictly capped per route to maintain intimate, high-quality cellar experiences.
