Tracks Laid for the High-Speed Rail: The Journey at Full Throttle has seen significant progress, with over 9 kilometers of double track already installed. By the end of the year, the completion of the ballast installation and the finalization of the route is anticipated. Currently, the project has reached 85% completion, moving closer to the final goal set for the second half of 2026, in line with the timelines established by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Pnrr), which funds the initiative with approximately 3.1 billion euros.
However, an unforeseen issue has arisen that could temporarily slow down the work: a section of the construction site on Via Grezze in Desenzano will be closed until mid-August due to the presence of bee-eater nests, a protected bird species. The large construction site extends between Mazzano, Ponte San Marco, and Calcinatello, while the civil works are nearly complete, and the project is entering the crucial phase of railway equipment installation. The new high-speed line from Brescia Est to Verona represents the first functional lot of the Brescia-Verona project and will be connected to the network through strategic interconnections.
