Protests in Barbarano di Salò for luxury villa and landscape protection
The protests against the construction of a luxury villa in Barbarano di Salò have gained momentum in recent days, with visual demonstrations expressing disapproval of the project. A sign at the construction site reads: “Thank you for this devastation,” highlighting the local community’s opposition to the loss of green space, which is considered the last remaining plot of land close to the lake. Residents are calling on the Municipality to take more decisive action for the protection of the landscape, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding green areas. In response to the protests, the local Administration has stated that the project had already been approved by the previous administration and involves a villa located away from the lake, accompanied by a garden where olive trees will be replanted. The councilor acknowledged the significant impact of the project but defended its compliance with the existing urban planning regulations, assuring that the nearby public beach will not be affected. The situation highlights a heated debate between the needs of real estate development and the necessity to protect the natural heritage of the area. Italian Version
