The recent weather conditions on Lake Garda have raised concerns for tourism in the area, with incessant rains impacting the Brescia shore. Local business owners are facing a challenging start to the season, traditionally linked to Easter, due to strong winds and wave action that have partially inundated beaches and lakeside promenades. However, there have been no reports of flooding; on the contrary, the increased outflows at the Salionze spillway have allowed for a rapid decrease in the lake’s level, mitigating potential damage.
The Secretary General of the Garda Community, Pierlucio Ceresa, confirmed that the lake level has dropped from 137 cm to a stabilization around 125-128 centimeters. Thanks to collaboration with AIPo, discharges are being maintained at 150 cubic meters per second to ensure safety in the Mincio River and the irrigation and hydroelectric canals. The Salò Coast Guard has warned of the presence of floating debris and suggested the installation of containment nets at the mouth of the Sarca River to prevent debris from entering the lake. On land, the Fire Brigade has conducted only minor operations, with no further damage reported in the lakeside towns.
