The Real Desenzanese, a historic entity in the amateur football scene in Desenzano, has ceased its activities after being evicted from the Montecroce field, where it had operated since 2020. The decision, communicated through a municipal resolution on August 20, mandated the club to hand over the keys within 72 hours, forcing it to suspend competitions and training sessions. Giancarlo Giovinazzo, a former official of the team, expressed his bitterness over a measure that was perceived as a bolt from the blue, as the facility was earmarked for the construction of a new hospital.
The municipality justified its action with technical reasons related to the Real Desenzanese’s failure to adhere to agreements. The Sports Councillor, Pietro Avanzi, emphasized that the planned interventions had not been completed and that the entity acted in accordance with the law. The dispute has ended up in court, with a ruling that partially upheld the municipality’s requests regarding the enforcement of a €9,000 guarantee. Despite attempts to extend the concession and complete the necessary works, the club was denied any opportunity to continue its sports project within the local community.
