Region Lombardia Funds Intercultural Projects and Social Services Expansion

There are two projects under the Department of Social Services, included in the Provincial Plan for the Promotion of Rights and Opportunities for Children, approved recently by Regione Lombardia and financed through law 285/97 (Turco Law).

The first concerns the Centro di animazione Mondolandia, hosted in premises rented by the Comune to Cinque Continenti. Currently, there are 45 enrolled children, aged between 6 and 13, from various nationalities.

The project envisions transforming it into a Intercultural Animation Center to offer a wider range of activities. To this end, a planning and management table has been established, involving the social worker from the Comune, a representative from the Cooperativa Alce Nero, which already manages the center, two educators, and a staff member from the Centro Interculturale della Provincia.

The goal is to integrate Mondolandia into the broader perspective guiding other initiatives, such as the Scuola in Ospedale and the upcoming Segretariato Sociale Desk.

Ricominciamo Project and Other Services

The “Ricominciamo” project, which benefits from consulting by Studio COME—already involved in the provincial technical table for the application of law 285—commenced on November 13.

The aim is to establish a district technical group for the shared development of the integrated social services network, beginning with interventions related to the second three-year period of law 285’s implementation, also thanks to the preliminary mapping of current operational initiatives.

Participants include, besides the municipalities of the former Ussl 46, to which Ceresara has been added, representatives from Cooperative Alce Nero, Olinda, and Orizzonti, the La Bussola association of Medole, the Istituto Comprensivo 2, and a teacher from the Ospedale in Scuola program active at S. Pellegrino.

Excluded from the provincial plan only because law 285 does not allow for new project funding, the SADE service—home-based educational assistance—will be maintained by the Comune, which has decided to assume its full cost.

This service is aimed at minors, with the objective of addressing the causes of discomfort and providing the necessary support to reduce family separation cases. It works closely with the Consultorio and the Neuropsychiatry Department.
