Renovation of a villa in Desenzano: Roman aqueduct uncovered

During renovation work at Villa Adele, located in Desenzano, a segment of a Roman aqueduct in excellent condition has been uncovered. This archaeological find will be transferred to the Rambotti civic museum on Monday, and the truck’s passage will necessitate some temporary changes to local traffic. The villa, built between the 1940s and 1950s and currently abandoned, is set to be transformed into a luxury residence with 16 units.

The discovery has sparked the interest of the Superintendency, which has recognized the historical significance of the find, suggesting that it may be part of a collection of artifacts dating back to the Roman period, between the 1st and 4th centuries AD. Other recent discoveries in the area confirm Desenzano as a significant Roman center; among these are brooches, ceramics, and coins that will be displayed at the Rambotti museum, where the aqueduct will play a central role following its anticipated restoration.
