Road accident in Toscolano Maderno: greater pedestrian safety needed
A tragic road accident has shaken the community of Toscolano Maderno, where Nicolae Trepādus, known as Nicu, lost his life on Wednesday evening while crossing the street at a pedestrian crossing to get ice cream with his granddaughters. The 59-year-old man, a long-time resident of the area originally from Romania, was struck by a KTM motorcycle driven by a man in his fifties, who was overtaking a stationary car to allow the pedestrian to pass. Despite attempts at resuscitation on the scene, there was nothing that could be done for Nicu.
The accident occurred near the Bernini Park on the Gardesana road. Following the impact, the motorcyclist was transported to the Civile Hospital in Brescia with non-serious injuries. The victim’s wife also arrived at the scene and suffered a health issue, prompting her to be taken to the hospital in Gavardo. Nicolae’s body will be transferred to Romania for the funeral, as no local services are planned. This incident brings renewed attention to pedestrian safety in the area and underscores the importance of adhering to traffic regulations.
