A serious road accident occurred along the state road 450 Affi-Castelnuovo yesterday afternoon, Monday, May 12, involving two cars and resulting in injuries to three individuals. The alert was raised around 2 PM when a Ford Focus, driven by a 70-year-old man from Sona, veered off for reasons still to be determined, violently colliding with a stationary Audi Q3 in a rest area. Inside the Audi was a couple of German tourists; the woman, who had exited the vehicle shortly before the impact, was struck and sustained severe injuries.
Rescue operations were immediate: emergency medical personnel from Suem 118 responded quickly and requested the air ambulance from Verona Emergenza. The injured woman was stabilized and transported in critical condition to Borgo Trento Hospital, where she is currently hospitalized with a reserved prognosis. The driver of the Ford and the man in the Audi also received assistance; one of them suffered only minor bruises and was taken to Peschiera Hospital for further examinations. Meanwhile, the Bardolino Traffic Police conducted the necessary investigations to reconstruct the dynamics of the crash, while traffic on the state road remained heavily delayed for over an hour due to the rescue operations and securing of the area.
