Last Saturday, Gargnano conducted an important operation involving road checks on the SP 9, aimed at ensuring public safety and combating illegal racing. Thanks to the collaboration between the local police of Gargnano and Desenzano, arranged by the Prefecture as part of the “Integrated Security Project,” 11 officers were deployed, some of whom were in plain clothes. This initiative resulted in the issuance of 24 fines, the revocation of 2 driving licenses, along with administrative seizures and withheld registration documents.
Mayor Giovanni Albini emphasized the importance of this intervention, highlighting that the issue of illegal racing in the area is well-known and concerning for residents. The checks primarily involved young individuals aged 18 to 25, both Italian and German, who had engaged in reckless maneuvers on the stretch of road between Navazzo and the Cola bridge. The mayor has already scheduled additional summer checks to maintain heightened awareness of the issue.
