Safety drill in Riva del Garda: rescue in simulated emergencies
On the morning of Friday, November 14, a complex security drill took place aboard the motor vessel Tonale in Riva del Garda, involving various agencies and rescue professionals. The training included the participation of 16 navigation operators, 12 volunteer firefighters, and five permanent members of the Trento Diving Unit, along with provincial air rescue and the Coast Guard. During the exercise, fires were simulated on deck and passenger evacuations were conducted, including two individuals with disabilities, to test the assistance procedures in critical situations. The activity also included a “May Day” call to the Coast Guard’s operations room, simulating two fires below deck and three missing persons. The interventions tested the coordination between onboard personnel and aerial rescuers, culminating in the recovery of an injured individual via helicopter. Finally, the motor vessel San Carlo was towed by the Sperone to simulate maneuvers in the event of a malfunction. This exercise represented an important opportunity to refine reaction times and improve synergy among the various entities involved in emergency rescue operations on the lake. Italian Version
