Safety on Lake Garda: summer checks and rescues by the Guardia di Finanza

Lake Garda Safety: Navigation Controls and Rescues by the Guardia di Finanza. This summer has proven to be particularly busy for the Guardia di Finanza, which has recently concluded a comprehensive control operation aimed at ensuring the safety of the lake’s waters. This initiative, part of the “SecureLake” operation, was coordinated among the provinces of Brescia, Verona, and Trento, with naval units from the operational section in Salò engaged in constant surveillance along the shores of Lake Garda. Throughout the summer months, 148 inspections were carried out, leading to the discovery of 84 irregularities and the imposition of fines totaling approximately €53,000.

In addition to the most common regulatory violations, such as reckless boating and lack of safety equipment, the operation also had a strong preventive aspect. The officers conducted checks on the vessels’ equipment, issuing a “blue sticker” to those that complied with safety regulations. On the rescue front, the Guardia di Finanza demonstrated its value by intervening in four emergency situations and saving eleven people in distress, thereby highlighting the important role of law enforcement in civil protection in local waters.
