A theft of saffron valued at 1,200 euros occurred in a supermarket in Sirmione, where a gourmet thief stole 240 packets of the precious spice. The incident took place on Via Verona, where the man, a homeless immigrant, skillfully concealed the goods under his coat, aware of their high commercial value. After committing the theft, he attempted to make a quick getaway, but the store’s anti-theft staff noticed him and alerted the authorities. The local police promptly intervened, apprehending the thief who had tried to dispose of the stolen goods by throwing them on the ground. Commander Mauro Fezzardi emphasized the importance of collaboration between officers and merchants in ensuring safety in the area. The thief has been reported and will be required to return the stolen items. Italian Version
