The project for senior housing in Salò raises questions nearly four years after its approval in 2022. The 14 protected mini-apartments, intended for self-sufficient elderly individuals and to be constructed in the former Eca building on Via Gasparo, appear to be stalled. Giovanni Ciato, a minority municipal councilor, has sought clarification from the new mayor, Francesco Cagnini, regarding the lack of progress on the project, emphasizing the importance of this initiative, which should have been a priority for the previous administration.
Ciato expressed concern over the apparent lack of interest from the Fondazione Città di Salò, despite the municipality’s financial contribution exceeding 68%. He also pointed out that regulatory changes could jeopardize the property, fearing a potential sale rather than the establishment of a necessary social housing service for the elderly in the area. With €2,280,000 already allocated in the budget for the project, doubts about its future continue to grow, prompting Ciato to request updates on the current situation and the prospects for the initiative.
