Salò and Coast Guard: Memorable Rescue Intervention
A German citizen returned to **Salò** to express his gratitude to the members of the 1st unit of the **Lake Garda Coast Guard**, one year after their **rescue intervention** that saved his life. On August 27, 2024, the crew of the patrol boat Cp 862, returning from a mission, noticed a man collapsed on the lakeside. Swiftly responding with first aid materials, the officers performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers and used a semi-automatic defibrillator, stabilizing the 58-year-old tourist before transporting him in critical condition to the Civil Hospital of Brescia.
During his visit to the Coast Guard headquarters, the man was warmly welcomed by the rescuers who saved him that day. As a token of gratitude, he was presented with a Coast Guard cap, symbolizing the special bond formed between him and the officers. This simple yet meaningful gesture highlights the daily commitment of the men and women of the Coast Guard to safeguarding human life and ensuring navigational safety.
