Salò Chef Angelo Dal Bon Participates in Villa Madama Luncheon

Angelo Dal Bon, owner of one of the best restaurants in Salò, «La Campagnola», participated as one of the chefs at the luncheon of Villa Madama in honor of the ruler of the Maghreb country, Mohammed VI. His participation was requested by renowned chef Gianfranco Vissani, who usually cooks for D’Alema’s events.

Description of the Villa and the Reception

The picturesque Villa di Roma, which served as the venue for the reception — and should not be confused with Palazzo Madama — is inspired by a drawing by Raffaello and is located near the Stadio Olimpico. Used exclusively for receptions, it hosted eighty-four guests on this occasion.

The service involved, in addition to four chefs, sixteen waiters and six sommeliers. The lunch, described as «frugal» due to the limited time available for guests involved in other official commitments, consisted of an asparagus soup appetizer and a «cherry tart» — which were Sicilian cherry tomatoes called «ciliegina», caramelized and seasoned with Garda olive oil.

The Lunch Menu

The first course was a «risotto with spugnole» (earthballs), and the second course included «veal rosettes» with black truffle and honey. The dessert, called «Chestnut Mimosa», features marron glacé seasoned with celery and tomato sauce.

Angelo Dal Bon has also brought Brescia cuisine to America, cooking in New York for the «James Bird Foundation». He is also one of the main organizers of «SalòGolosa», a culinary-cultural route that had its first edition in ’99. Its purpose is to promote and valorize local foods and wines through an itinerary spanning the streets and alleys of the town center of Salò.

Upcoming Events and the Success of the Event

The success of last year prompted the organizers to repeat the experience, and it can already be announced that the second edition of «SalòGolosa» will be held on May 25th. This event aims to grow significantly in the years to come.
