Salò Football Club Opposes Sale of Old Carlo Amadei Field for New Development
The transfer of the old “Carlo Amadei” football field to Campoverde remains a hot topic in Salò. According to the plans of the municipal administration, there is an intention to sell the old sports field (which covers 11,500 square meters), thereby allowing the construction of 13,000 cubic meters, which would generate urbanization charges amounting to four and a half billion lire.
Position of the football club
Now, the stance of the football club, led by Aldo Caffi, has been revealed. The club officials have reviewed the proposal to sell the land (to private individuals, intended for building apartments, for an amount of four and a half billion lire) and to develop a new dirt pitch between the swimming pools and the new “Lino Turina” stadium, where youth activities could be relocated. They express discontent with this plan.
Reactions and demands
“We,” explains General Manager Eugenio Olii, “do not accept the idea of losing the locker rooms attached to the field. There are dozens of boys who train throughout the week. A continuous flow of players, which requires proper facilities. It is not feasible to change clothes two hundred meters away, inside the Lino Turina stadium. Let me be clear: we do not oppose the proposed plan. However, we clearly state that, before abandoning the glorious Carlo Amadei, we want a complete structure.”
The standoff has only just begun…
