Salò Retirement Home Reopens Admissions, Moves to New Facility

The Salò Retirement Home is reopening its registration process in recent days after having closed it for a few months.

Currently, there are 120 elderly residents in the home, and this number will be maintained for what concerns the so-called “permanent” admissions.

This also matches the capacity of the new facility under construction, located in the area between the new stadium, the elementary and nursery schools, and the market square.

It is there that the Home will relocate from its current site at Piazza Bresciani, becoming a Residential Healthcare Facility and hosting partially and non-self-sufficient individuals, including about twenty Alzheimer’s patients housed in a specialized ward.

Relocation and Healthcare Team

“The move will probably take place after summer,” says Dr. Angelo Gasparotti, geriatric consultant of the facility, whose team also includes Dr. Giancarlo Raggi, the healthcare manager, and Dr. Gianni Capretti, a physician.

Besides permanent admissions, the facility also accommodates “temporary” stays, ranging from a minimum of 30 days to a maximum of 90 days.

A couple of these are affiliated with ASL, while others are what are called “respite admissions,” a service offered as support to families.

Services and Activities of the New Center

“Permanent stays, respite care, and public information and training meetings — emphasizes Gasparotti — are some essential aspects of the new profile of the center, which is no longer just a placement institution but opens to the community within a network of services for the elderly, including healthcare, assistance, and social interventions.”

The new structure will include the Integrated Day Center, which will host elderly individuals living with family members during the day, providing opportunities for socialization and access to necessary healthcare or rehabilitative services, thus also supporting families in caregiving.

Meetings and Conferences on Alzheimer’s Disease

We remind that ongoing are meetings for families and anyone interested, on the topic “Alzheimer’s Disease: the Loss of Soul and Body,” organized by the Retirement Home in collaboration with the group “Solidarietà Salodiana.”

Below are the remaining scheduled events, which will take place at the Salò Retirement Home from 8:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.:

On Friday, May 12th, Cristina Capretti (nurse) and Rosalia Cerutti (basic operator) will discuss “Care for the Elderly with Dementia“; and on Friday, May 26th, Music Therapist Facilitator Paola Bonomini will present on “Animation: a Moment of Encounter with the Elderly with Dementia.”
