San Martino in Calle Assoc. Seeks Supporters for Festival and Community Aid
San Martino in Calle, the association of Calle and supporters of the patronal festival, is looking for “friends”: supporting members and volunteers willing to commit themselves to collaborating with the association in the activities of development and preparation of the San Martino patronal celebration. This was revealed during the latest meeting of the association’s board, chaired by Maria Fiorella Azzali, the vice president of the organization, who has temporarily taken the helm of the group after the sudden passing of Renzo Cipriani, fondly remembered with great emotion during the assembly.
Objectives and initiatives of the association
“In March,” explains Fiorella Azzali, “we will elect the statutory bodies, and by that date, we hope to have increased the ranks of our friends and supporters. We have no vested interests or other motives, only the desire to do and work to revive the ancient popular traditions of our town, also linked to local festivals. It is also our intention to activate, through elementary and middle schools, a literary and painting contest for young people, to promote local history and the rediscovery of our roots. Obviously, we will not lose sight of our primary aim, which is to work to restore pride to San Martino, but also to continue, through the proceeds from our events, to help those less fortunate.”
Humanitarian aid projects
“This is demonstrated by our commitment with our fellow citizen Sister Bruna Imelda,” continues Azzali, “through whom we are contributing to aid the leprosy-affected children in her mission in Brazil. We are also working to contribute to some local interventions, especially for elderly people living alone and in need, or residents of Lazise facing economic difficulties. Of course, our funds are limited, but we try to “invest” what we have at our disposal in the best way possible. Looking ahead,” she concludes, “we would like to enroll in the regional register of ONLUS in order to operate more effectively.”
