Scam Alert: Fake Carabinieri Callers Target Garda Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear without a trace.
