Scam Alert: Fake Carabinieri Contact Garda Businesses Over Phone

Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions by phone, offering subscriptions to army-related magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
