Scam Alert: Fake Carabinieri Contact Hoteliers in Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not military personnel but con artists who, each time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, disappears and no longer shows up.
