Scam Alert: Fake Carabinieri Targets Garda Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the armed forces magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be affiliated with finance, police, fire brigade, or the Comune police.

How to recognize the scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, no longer make themselves visible.
