Scam Alert: Fake Officers Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They break into Carabinieri when trying to contact hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda by phone, offering subscriptions to magazines from the army.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or the municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

has money, and then disappears.
