Scam Alert: Fake Police Calls Asking for Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the Finance Police, Police, Fire Brigade, or Municipal Police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often suggest subscriptions to fake magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

are after money, and then disappear.
