Scam Alert: Fake Police Calls Targeting Garda Hoteliers and Business Owners

Pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the arm.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

claims to have money but disappears when approached.
