Scam Alert: Fake Police Calls Targeting Garda Hoteliers and Shops

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Mid and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

having money, no longer show themselves.
