Scam Alert: Fraudsters Impersonate Police to Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to Arma magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigades, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,

after receiving the money, disappear without a trace.
