Scam Calls Impersonating Carabinieri Target Garda Businesses
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.
They are not military personnel, but scam artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, firefighting services, or municipal guards.
How to recognize scams and how to react
They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
claims to have money but then disappears.
