Scam Calls Pretending to Be Carabinieri Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the forces’ magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scam artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having taken money, no longer shows up.
