Scammers Faking Carabinieri Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions in Garda

Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda by phone, offering subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance unit, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining the money, disappears.
