Scammers Impersonate Authorities in Garda Area to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to Army magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal guards.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So, be alert and immediately notify the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, once they have the money, disappear without a trace.
