Scammers Impersonate Authorities in Garda Region, Targeting Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or Comune firefighters.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining money, disappears.
