Scammers Impersonate Authorities Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They disguise themselves as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, firefighters, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have no relation to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately inform the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after receiving the money, disappear without a trace.
