Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Target Garda Business Owners

Pretending to be Carabinieri, fraudsters contact hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and High Garda areas by phone, offering subscriptions to the arms’ magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer appear.
