Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Trick Garda Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, craftsmen, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality‘s officers.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, disappears and is no longer visible.
