Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri and Police to Target Local Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, stops appearing.
