Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda, Alert for Recognition

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering magazine subscriptions from the arma.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune guards.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just call 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, disappear from sight.
