Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area Hotspot Calls

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the mid and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to Army magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

So be alert and immediately notify the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
