Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area Phone Calls

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to police magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire department, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize the Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, disappear and cease contact.
