Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area Phone Scams

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to fake magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
