Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area Requests

They masquerade as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines from the force.

They are not actually members of the military; instead, they are con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,

would seek money, and then disappear.
