Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Target Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to financial authorities, the police, firefighters, or the Comune vigilance.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or to those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, disappear without a trace.
