Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Trick Businesses

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the mid and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not actual members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Hence, be cautious and immediately contact the carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after receiving the money, disappears.
