Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area, Warns Authorities

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or local government.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately contact the authentic Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,
