Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having obtained money, no longer shows up.
