Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda, Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

The perpetrators pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, craftsmen, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to police force magazines.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, stay vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, disappears and is no longer seen.
