Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Region to Sell Fake Subscriptions
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.
These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance office, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.
Recognizing the Scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who,
having money, cease to appear.
